Healthworks is a community health charity delivering vital services - from pregnancy support to older people’s wellbeing. 

Despite the breadth of its work, the organisation struggled with:

  • An outdated, difficult-to-navigate website
  • No active social media presence
  • Inconsistent messaging across departments 
  • No clear brand identity or tone of voice 
  • Low public visibility and limited stakeholder confidence  


Healthworks needed a complete communications overhaul to build a cohesive brand, boost engagement, enhance visibility, and align teams internally.  


Engaged as a freelance communications lead, I was (and still am) responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy that spanned digital, print, internal, and public-facing channels.  

How I Developed Consistent Branding & Messaging

  • Created a clear tone of voice and visual identity
  •  Developed key messages tailored to each service area 
  • Delivered brand guidance and staff training to ensure consistent use

Better Demonstrating The Impact Of Healthworks Work

 The Challenge:
Healthworks needed more than just a traditional annual report - they wanted a communications tool that showcased their real-world impact, not just activities and numbers. 


The Solution:

I developed and delivered a new approach: a digital-first, story-driven Impact Report focused on outcomes, community voices, and accessible design.


What I Did:

  • Conceptualised and created the entire report - copywriting and graphic design. 
  • Reframed the content to spotlight impact over information overload. 
  • Wrote clear, compelling copy tailored to funders, partners, and community stakeholders. 
  • Designed a clean, branded layout that prioritised visual storytelling and readability. 
  • Turned complex data into engaging, outcome-focused content.
     

The Outcome:
A fresh, engaging report that told Healthworks’ story through results—not red tape. The new format strengthened communication with funders, partners, and potential sponsors, providing a clear, visually compelling showcase of the organisation’s impact and value.  It positions Healthworks as a confident, transparent, and results-driven organisation ready for deeper investment and collaboration.

Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - Tobacco Dependency Treatment Service

 I created a practical Decision Aid to help staff support patients who smoke. It guides healthcare professionals through identifying smokers, offering brief advice, referring to the Tobacco Dependency Treatment Service, and prescribing the right Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT).


The tool includes clear steps for inpatient and maternity teams, advice on safety (including drug interactions and pregnancy), and helps ensure consistent, safe, and effective support for patients trying to quit smoking..

I created The Blue Dog Blog as a space for dog lovers who want real, reliable information from.  As a qualified dog trainer and committed dog parent, I use the blog to share practical training advice, health and care tips, product reviews, and personal stories.

 

It’s a mix of professional insight and personal experience, written in a down-to-earth style that’s all about helping readers give their dogs the best life possible.  The Blue Dog Blog offers honest content, expert tips, and a sense of community for dog lovers everywhere

The Challenge: 

Previously known as Amazing Start, the service had undergone significant change, yet its new identity hadn’t registered with the community. Despite the name change, public recognition remained low.  


The Solution:

I led a full branding and relaunch project—developing the Best Start name and identity to reflect the service’s growth and values. The goal was a warm, trustworthy, and professional brand that could connect with parents, midwives, health visitors, and the wider community.


What I Did:

  • Created a new logo, designed to express care, trust, and inclusivity.
  • Delivered a refreshed visual identity and full set of brand assets to support the relaunch.
  • Updated print and digital materials (leaflets, posters, referral forms, social content).
  • Developed a clear, SEO landing page and website content. 
  • Designed resources for both clients and professionals. 
  • Produced practical brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all platforms.  


The Outcome:

  • A clear, recognisable brand that families and professionals trust. 
  • Increased engagement and referrals through stronger visibility and messaging.
